Supported Versions
BriefCatch 3 is a Microsoft-approved AppSource Office Add-in designed to work across Windows, macOS, and Microsoft 365 Online environments.
- Windows: Word for Microsoft 365 (recommended) or Word 2021+ (Version 2108 or later)
- Mac: Word for Microsoft 365 (recommended) or Word 2021+ (Version 16.40 or later)
- Word Online: Microsoft 365 Online (web version, Windows or Mac)
Note: BriefCatch 3 no longer supports Word 2016 or Word 2019. Office 2016 and 2019 will reach Microsoft end of support in October 2025.
These versions may rely on Internet Explorer-based technology that is no longer supported. While BriefCatch may continue to work in some older configurations of Word 2019, we strongly recommend using Word for Microsoft 365 for full compatibility and ongoing updates.
Deployment Requirements
BriefCatch 3 supports centralized deployment via the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, which requires Exchange Online as outlined in Microsoft’s Centralized Deployment documentation.
If your organization is not using Exchange Online, you'll need to consider alternate deployment options.
Important Licensing Note
Centralized Deployment of Office add-ins is only supported with certain Microsoft 365 plans. The minimum required license is Microsoft 365 Business Standard (or higher, such as Business Premium, E3, or E5).
Lower-tier plans, including Microsoft 365 Business Basic and Microsoft 365 Apps for Business, do not support Centralized Deployment. If your organization uses one of these plans, users may still be able to install the add-in individually, but organization-wide deployment will not be available.
