Does BriefCatch 3 work on Macs?

Yes! BriefCatch 3 is now compatible on both Mac and PC. Learn how to install BriefCatch 3 in this guide.


What devices are compatible with BriefCatch 3?

BriefCatch 3 is available on Microsoft® AppSource. Supported versions include Microsoft® Word 2016 or later on Windows®, Microsoft® Word 2016 or later on macOS®, and Microsoft® Word for Web (Microsoft® 365 Online).

Some versions of Word 2016 may not be fully supported. Full support is available on Version 1603 (Build 6769.0000) or later. Please contact our support team if you encounter any issues.


How do I install BriefCatch 3?

BriefCatch 3 is available on Microsoft® AppSource.

Access to the Microsoft Store is disabled at my organization. How can I install BriefCatch?

If you're not able to access and install BriefCatch 3 through the store due to your organization blocking or restricting access, you may need to contact your IT or security team and ask for approval. You can also have them reach out to our support team with any questions or for additional assistance.

It's possible to deploy the app while still keeping the app store unavailable, but it's likely something an administrator will need to approve.


Can BriefCatch 3 be deployed from the 365 Admin Center?

Do you offer Single Sign-On?

Yes! BriefCatch 3 uses Microsoft Single Sign-On. Learn more about using Microsoft SSO to manage your account.


What is Real-time editing?

There's no longer a need to re-scan your document when you make changes. The real-time editing feature in BriefCatch 3 continues to give on-demand and instant suggestions as you write.

Users can customize their experience by toggling the Realtime suggestions option under their account preferences.

Why is the BriefCatch icon grayed out in some documents?

BriefCatch 3 may appear grayed out if you open a document in read only mode, or if you have an older format document, such as .doc, rather than .docx. BriefCatch 3 requires that the document is in .docx format to load.

You can save any .doc document as .docx easily by going to File - Save As, then selecting "Word Document (*.docx)" from the drop down menu:

Is an internet connection required to use BriefCatch 3?

Yes. You must be connected to the internet to receive suggestions from BriefCatch 3.


How can I uninstall or remove BriefCatch 3?

To uninstall BriefCatch 3, open Word. In the Word ribbon, click on Home - Add-ins - More add-ins. Find BriefCatch under "MY ADD-INS", right click on it, then select Remove.

I'm an existing BriefCatch 2 user. Can I use my BriefCatch 2 license for BriefCatch 3?

Any of our BriefCatch 2 or Standalone users with an active license can use BriefCatch 3 at no additional cost. Please view our BriefCatch 3 update guide for more information.

Security

Does BriefCatch 3 store any document or confidential data?

No. BriefCatch 3 uses real-time data streams to process documents on secure servers. The server returns only the results of the scan. Neither the text from the scan nor the document text is ever collected, logged, or retained. No one can view any of the document text either during processing or after processing.


Does BriefCatch 3 connect to any external servers?


Yes. BriefCatch 3 is a cloud based product and processes requests on secure servers. We never store any of your document data during or after processing. You can reference our security guide for more information.

Are all connections encrypted?

Yes. All connections to and from BriefCatch are encrypted using TLS 1.2/1.3.


Do you have any certifications?

Yes. We are SOC 2 Type 1 compliant.

Subscriptions & Payments

How can I purchase a BriefCatch subscription?

After you install BriefCatch 3, you can purchase a Pro subscription directly within the app. Just create an account, select Start Free Trial, then choose between our monthly or annual subscriptions.


How much does BriefCatch cost?

Do you offer monthly and annual plans?

Yes. BriefCatch has monthly and annual plans available. See our pricing page for more information.


Is there a free trial for BriefCatch?

Yes! You can try BriefCatch 3 free for 7 days. After you install BriefCatch 3, create an account within the app, then click Start Free Trial to start your 7 day free trial.

After 7 days, you will be subscribed to our monthly or annual Pro subscription, based on which option you choose. You can cancel your free trial any time during the 7 days to avoid being charged.


Is a credit card required to sign up for the BriefCatch free trial?

Yes. But you can cancel at any time during the 7 day period if you decide not to keep BriefCatch and you will not be charged.


Will my BriefCatch subscription automatically renew?

Yes, BriefCatch subscriptions will automatically renew, either monthly or annually, based on which plan you're subscribed to. You can cancel your subscription at any time. Upon cancellation, your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period and you will not be charged again.

How do I modify or cancel my BriefCatch subscription?

If you wish to modify or cancel your Pro subscription, you can do this directly within the BriefCatch 3 app.

To modify your subscription, click on the settings Icon. Click on the Subscription tab, then click the blue Manage Subscription button:

This will open the Stripe dashboard in your browser which will allow you to modify your subscription status.

If you need help canceling your BriefCatch subscription, please contact our support team.


Can I use my BriefCatch subscription on more than one computer?

Yes, as long as you are the sole owner of each device.


How do you process payments?

Payments are processed by (Stripe). No payment information is stored directly on our site. Our site uses SHA-256 With RSA Encryption to ensure that all transactions are secure. The certificate has been issued by Let's Encrypt.

Charges will show up on your statement as BRIEFCATCH or BRIEFC.


What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit or debit cards.

What can I do if my payment was blocked or rejected?

If your card was blocked, you can try using a different credit card. You can also contact support for assistance.

How can I update the credit card for my BriefCatch subscription?

 You can update your card from within the BriefCatch 3 app. Click on the settings Icon, then the Subscription tab. From there, click the blue Manage Subscription button:

If you purchased your subscription prior to May 2022, log in on your Subscriptions page. Click on Update for the subscription you would like to modify then enter your new credit card details.


Do you offer refunds?

Refunds are handled on a case by case basis. We recommend starting with our 7-day free trial to see if BriefCatch works for you.

If you have a problem with the product, we will do whatever we reasonably can to resolve it. Please contact our support team for assistance.
