BriefCatch Online App: Help

Learn the core features and workflows of the BriefCatch online app, from first sign-in through review, reporting, and account administration.

The core workflow

  1. Set up your account
Sign in the way your organization provided, verify your email if asked, and confirm the organization you are joining. Get started

  2. Get a document in
Upload a .docx or .pdf, or pick one from a connected drive, and decide what happens to the stored copy. My Documents

  3. Run the review
Watch analysis complete and open the review editor. Review a document

  4. Work the suggestions
Accept, reject, or ignore each card across Style, Clarity, Proofing, and Citations. Ignoring is not the same as rejecting. Work with suggestions
  5. Check the citations that carry the argument
RealityCheck reports whether an authority supports the proposition it is cited for. It is the one metered feature. Use RealityCheck
  6. Read the document as a whole
Reports summarize the review across the brief rather than card by card. Reports

How access works

Plans and licenses

Individual, Pro, and Enterprise — what each includes, how the built-in trial works, and what survives when a license lapses.

Roles and permissions

Why a control can be missing: the license entitles the account, your role authorizes you.

Administration

Teams and organizations

Invitations, roles, and pooled credits.

Identity management

Verified domains, single sign-on, and SCIM provisioning, in the order they depend on.

Settings

Profile, sign-in, email preferences, and organization policy.

Integrations

Google Drive and OneDrive, and what access they grant.

Outlook Add-In

Installing BriefCatch in Microsoft Outlook, and what your account needs.

Learning Hub

The course catalog on legal writing, and who can see it..

Analytics

Your usage over time, and the admin-only Team analytics view.

Plans

Compare plans, add seats, cancel, resubscribe.

Billing

Invoices, payment method, credit top-ups.

Usage and Credits

What spends a credit, and how to read the ledger.

When something is wrong

Citation formatting and citation substance are two different features: Citation corrections for form, RealityCheck for substance. For anything else, start at Troubleshooting.
