BriefCatch Next: How to Update Guide
Technical & Troubleshooting
BriefCatch Next is the latest version of the BriefCatch add-in. If you’re currently using BriefCatch 3 or BriefCatch Standalone, you can transition to BriefCatch Next with minimal effort. This guide explains how to update based on how BriefCatch is deployed in your environment.
Note: To begin using BriefCatch Next, simply deploy or install the new add-in. Existing accounts and subscriptions from BriefCatch 3 automatically carry over. No new account setup is required.

Mass Deployment Updates (Enterprise)
BriefCatch Next is available as a separate add-in in Microsoft AppSource. Deployment works the same way as BriefCatch 3:
- Go to Microsoft 365 Admin Center - Settings - Integrated Apps.
- Search for "BriefCatch Next" then deploy the add-in to your users.
- Allow time for the add-in to propagate. (Usually instantly, but can take up to 72 hours.)
Your users may temporarily see both BriefCatch 3 and BriefCatch Next in Word during the transition. That’s expected. All existing user accounts and enterprise subscriptions remain the same.
Once BriefCatch Next is fully deployed and verified, you may:
- Remove BriefCatch 3 via Integrated Apps - BriefCatch - Remove App, or
- Remove assigned users from the BriefCatch 3 deployment

Manual Updates (Retail/Professional Users)
If you installed BriefCatch yourself (not through centralized deployment), simply install the new BriefCatch Next add-in. BriefCatch 3 and BriefCatch Next appear as separate add-ins, so the update process is just installing the new one.
Your existing BriefCatch account and subscription will automatically work in BriefCatch Next.
