Launching BriefCatch Standalone
After BriefCatch Standalone is installed, a BriefCatch S tab will appear in the Word ribbon. Click the BriefCatch S tab to see the available functions.
Please Note: After installing BriefCatch Standalone, you must activate the software within 7 days or it will stop working.
Enterprise Activation
If you're deploying BriefCatch Standalone for your organization, you should attach your organization's license key to your deployment to automate licensing. For more information, see BriefCatch Standalone Enterprise: Authentication & Licensing.
Subscription Sign-In
If you have a retail Standalone subscription, we recommend using Subscription Sign-In to activate BriefCatch. This connects the software to your subscription and keeps it active for as long as your subscription remains valid.
To activate Subscription Sign-In, click the BriefCatch S tab in word, then click on About.
In the About window, click Subscription Sign-In.
Note: If you don't see the Subscription Sign-In button, you might have to click Sign Out first.
A prompt will appear, asking you to enter your BriefCatch username and password.
Enter your information then click Ok. BriefCatch will take a quick moment to look up your account information, and if successful, you will see the following message:
Click Ok and you're finished!
Manually Installing a License Key
If you have trouble with Subscription Sign-In, or if preferred, you can also manually install a license key.
Your license key can be found by logging in to the BriefCatch Portal.
After logging in, click the BriefCatch Standalone tab. In the tab, click the green Download License button to save the license key file to your computer.
Don't try to run or open the file, just save it to your computer in a location you will remember, such as your Downloads folder.
To install your BriefCatch license, do not open the license file directly. Open Word, click on the BriefCatch S tab from the ribbon, then click on About. From there, click on Install License.
If you don't see the Install license button, you may need to click Sign Out first.
Navigate to the license file you downloaded above and press Open. You will then receive the message, "Your license was successfully imported."
Click Ok and you're finished!
Note: License keys need to be manually reinstalled once they expire. To automate licensing, use Subscription Sign-In.
